Vincent Van Duysen

The architect and designer Vincent Van Duysen war born in 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium. After completing his studies at the Sint-Lucas School of Architecture in Gent, he worked at first with top-level designers and architects in Milan and Antwerpen, among them Aldo Cibic and Jean De Meulder.

Vincent Van Duysen Architects was founded in 1989. Today, the office's team comprises over 30 people whose work goes from product design for many international brands to large-scale architectural projects. The focus lies on high-class houses in Belgium and in whole Europe, in the Middle-East, Asia and in the USA.

In 2016, Van Duysen became creative director of two Italian design brands and significantly contributed to the design of their flagship stores, of their fair stands and to the development of a number of new products. From 2018 to May 2020, he was Art Director at a famous Danish textile company. From the year 2022, he has been having a collaboration with Zara home. For the top Italian brand Flos, Vincent Van Duysen designed two modern rechargeable table lamps.

From the beginning, an obvious relationship between architecture, interior decoration and product design was the driving force for the designing of his projects. The use of pure and tangible materials leads to a clear, timeless design. Functionality, durability and comfort are the main components of his work.

During his career, Van Duysen received numerous awards, among them the Flemish Culture Prize for Design, the Prize of Belgian Designer of the Year and the Henry van de Velde Lifetime Achievement Award and an EDIDA for the best interior designer of the year.
