Company History

From the design mecca to the cultural metropolis

In the past 40 years, NOSTRAFORMA has developed from an Italian specialty shop to an international operating e-commerce company, headquartered in Munich. Today, we are one of the leading specialist dealers of designer lamps and furniture.

1972: Alfredo Cerchi founds a specialty shop for electrical goods in South Tyrol, Italy. Soon, he expands the range of product and provides Italian designer luminaires.

2001: The Cerchi family and thus the company move to Munich in order to benefit from the location conditions in the heart of Europe, and to be able to establish a strong position in the marketplace.

2006: The sons of the founder, Alexander, Patrick and Manuel, join the business administration after having worked in the company for years.

2007: NOSTRAFORMA becomes premium dealer of Artemide lamps.

2010: NOSTRAFORMA relaunches with a new layout and in the languages German, English and French. Demand is continually rising.

2011: The team grows to about 30 employees in the fields consulting, sales and warehousing as well as the areas of editing, designing and developing.

Today, the family-run, high-growth company with Italian roots is a globally successful online shop.

Our passion made us grow to one of the leading specialist resellers of designer lamps, furniture and accessories. To reach the fullest satisfaction of our customers, we combine a wide range of renowned brand manufacturers, such as Artemide, Flos or Kartell, with a selection of newcomers, such as Freedom of Creation or Tunto.

Our product range is characterized by award winning designs. Many of our products have won prizes such as the Compasso d'Oro, the iF design award or the red dot design award. In addition, some of them are exhibited in many important museums worldwide such as MoMA.

NOSTRAFORMA provides all European lamp and furniture premium design brands.

We offer high-class design-related products for the home and workplace, directly in our showroom located in Munich or in our online shop NOSTRAFORMA.

NOSTRAFORMA is built on reliable customer service in languages such as English, German and French. This also means that we are not only selling designer lamps and furniture, but we are experts of the design products and know most of the manufacturers personally. Hence, our consulting relies on our experience and expert knowledge. That are the nice distinctions, which set us apart from other online sellers.

At our company headquarter in Munich we benefit from very good location conditions and you can enjoy a great design experience in our 500 m² showroom. Here you will find more than 1000 exhibited designer lamps and furniture. Additionally, with an 1000 m² large high-bay warehouse we are enabled to provide you short delivery times.

As one of the most important design dealers in Europe, we put emphasis on consolidated company performances – from the professional consulting in German, English and French over web development, design and editing up to our repair workshop. In addition, our consultants are supported by computerized light planning and by the know-how of inhouse electricians. Finally, we have a large warehouse, from where all lamps and pieces of furniture are despatched.

NOSTRAFORMA employs around 30 members coming from various fields but sharing one common goal: an interest in high-class design and the awareness of product and service quality.

The NOSTRAFORMA management:

Alfredo Cerchi was founder and managing director of the Lumen Lighting Nostraforma GmbH & Co KG until 2018. In 1972 the young designer and amateur architect established a company for electrotechnical goods, that has quickly built a solid reputation in the design marketplace.

Alexander Cerchi is the commercial talent within the management. As the eldest son and strategical visionary he soon recognized the company's potential, and today takes the responsibility for the fast growth of the company.

Patrick Cerchi's sense for design and successful sales was virtually predestinate. He grew up in the family-owned company, and has developed further the Lumen Lighting Nostraforma GmbH & Co KG as a part of the managment since 2006.

Manuel Cerchi has grown up in the owned company. Together with his brothers he has not only represented the company since 2006, but above all he fosters and develops cooperation between the generations, that is characterized by the combination of traditional values and modern technological possibilities.
