Patrick Norguet

Patrick Norguet was born in 1969 in Tours, France. Because of his innovative design approach and his designs' eclecticism, he is considered to be French design' free spirit. He lives and works in Paris.

After completing his studies in industrial design at the ESDI in Paris, he was commissioned with designing the shop windows of two companies in the luxury sector and also the fair stands of a big automotive company. Thus, he gained a good sense of brand identities and their showcasing. Later, he was interested above all in technological innovations in the field of furniture and light design. His chair "Rainbow Chair", discovered by Cappellini and manufactured in an elaborate manufacturing process, gained Norguet his breakthrough in 2000. The chair was included in the MoMa New York permanent collection in 2001. Patrick Norguet opened his own design studio in Paris also in 2000. First furniture collections for French and Italian companies followed and reinforced Norguet's presence on international furniture fairs. He delivered designs for brands like Lodes, Artemide or Roger Pradier in the lighting segment.

The industrial designer aims at creating collections with a long life-span and therefore approaches all his projects with thoroughness, total commitment, outstanding know how and passion for industrial manufacturing processes. When designing his objects, the French designer is always searching for balance and rationality. In 2005, he was elected Designer of the Year by Now!Design for living (Maison & Objets) and during his career, he was awarded with numerous further distinctions like Wallpaper Design Awards, the Red Dot Design Award and the German Design Award.

Thanks to his close observation of the context, his analytical approach and respect for his clients' practices, Norguet was able to build a strong business relationship with numerous renowned manufacturers and was entrusted with versatile orders he apparently effortlessly implemented and thanks to which he rose as an emblematic figure of French design.
