Marset
Scotch Club Collection

Design by Mashallah Design, Xavier Mañosa

Scotch Club by Marset is a unique light collection, resulting from the collaboration between the design studio Mashallah in Berlin and the Spanish ceramic artist and designer Xavier Mañosa. It connects traditional handicraft and modern technique in a unique manner. Mashallah developped the digital design, while Mañosa took care of the hand-crafting. The result is a light fixture endowed with a particular beauty and a strong presence.

The collection comprises suspensions in three sizes, a wall lamp and a small ceiling lamp. All models are available with external sides in black, white and terra cotta, and an inside in white enamel or shiny gold.

Scotch Club shades are made of ceramics and appeal with a smooth faceting. The outside in a choice of discreet hues constrasts with the shiny, refined inside, which additionally reflects the sparkling, brilliant light outside. While the light shines bright and clear in the white version, it is warm and welcoming in the golden one. The wall lamps are connected with flat bowls on the walls and complement the shade with a round metallic plate, which makes the light glare-free.

The eponymous Scotch Club of Aachen, Germany, was one the first existing clubs where radio and vinyl records where played, replacing live music, on the end of the 1950s. The light fixture can be understood as an homage because the nearly spherical shape is reminiscent of shiny mirror balls and sparkles like them.
