Benjamin Hopf and Constantin Wortmann met during their studies at the University of Applied Science in Munich. There, Wortmann, born 1970 in Munich, studied industrial design from 1993 to 1998. Benjamin Hopf, born 1971 in Hamburg, had previously studied at the International University of Art & Design in Miami before starting to study design in Munich in 1992. The young designers founded their studio "Büro für Form" in 1999. Benjamin Hopf decided to leave in 2006 to found his own studio. Büro für Form is now led by Wortmann alone.

The Stand-up floor lamp for Authentics is an example of the studio's typical formal language. It sports an elegant drop shape, a recurring image that can be found in many other lamps by the team. A unique detail is the surprising element of movement: When the light fixture is nudged, it swings back into its original position. In 2005, Hopf + Wortmann won the iF DESIGN AWARD for the Molecular Light lighting system. Light spheres in variouscombinations provide an optimal light design suitable for every room. The extraordinary FlapFlap lights by the label next are an example of their creative and humorous approach to classic and iconic shapes.
