Constantin Wortmann

Constantin Wortmann operates the "Büro für Form" design office in Munich, which develops projects in the fields of interior design, product design and light design. Together with famous labels, such as Vibia, Slide, Modoluce, Kundalini, Koziol or Dark the design studio devises successful lighting concepts.

The industrial designer, born in 1970 in Munich, worked from 1995 to 1998 with the designer team of the famous German designer Ingo Maurer, until he graduated as industrial designer at the Design Highschool in Hamburg and Munich in 1998. Together with Benjamin Hopf, he founded the design studio "Büro für Form" in 1999, which earned a big success reflected by international awards and exhibitions. Since 2006, the year when Benjamin Hopf chose to follow his own creative path and left the "Büro für Form", Constantin Wortmann leads the studio alone. What is characteristic for his designs are organic and fluid shapes which create an effect of surprise for the viewer, and are sometimes endowed with an humorous note. According to Wortmann, a light does not only require a perfect function, but also a poetical note. Constantin Wortmann and "Büro für Form" have attracted attention in many magazines, have been awarded many times and were already displayed in international exhibitions.

The Munich-born designer met Thomas Schulte, the founder of the next label, in Leipzig in 1999, and a close collaboration started. Today Constantin Wortmann is a member of the next team and has not only created many next lights, but has also designed logo, CI, fotoshootings, catalog and fair booths for the company based in Cologne. The futurist Enterprise suspension, the simple yet striking collections Alien and Blubb which earned the titel "light of the year 2017" are outstanding works by Constantin Wortmann.
