About the Collection Vibia Africa
The LED rechargeable lights Africa by Vibia are a sculptural new interpretation of the traditional task light. Francisco Gómez Paz renounces here to mechanical adjustment possibilities in favour of monolitic design with an attractive feel and a cableless function. The oblique downwards directed light is guided to the desired spot with the precise placement of the light fixture only. The lack of cable and the slender construction mean that Africa finds room in a narrow space and can be moved around any time. The collection comprises two rechargeable table lamps that differ in height. They are available in four elegant colour hues.
Africa was born as an answer to the increasingly hybrid room use of modern lifestyles. Living spaces and working spaces merge and demand light sources that flexibly move around, while the emotional factor is always taken into account. For this reason, the shape of the Africa rechargeable light does not result from its function only, but also from aesthetic and feeling considerations.

To gain its sculptural, monolitic character, Africa is made of a single piece of aluminium. The slender, edgeless shape and the matt lacquered surface invite to raise and move the light fixture. Its conical shape ensures a secure stand, while the head nestles to the tip and directs the focussed, glare-free light downwards. The LEDs are located behind a polycarbonate diffuser inside the head. The touch dimmer is integrated nearly seamlessly on the top and enables an intuitive handling - a comfortable on and off switching and between the three levels of intensity.
Africa illuminates its direct surroundings and creates a clearly defined area of activity. The brightness can be adjusted at three levels to create the perfect lighting situation whatever the activity and ambient lighting are. Africa enhances productivity and general well-being.
The integrated LEDs have an especially warm white colour temperature and a very good colour rendering, so that a natural, exact representation of colour hues is made. Its pleasant light is suited not only for the work place, but also for sideboards in the living room, for the bedside table and for window sills.
Even when the light is turned off, the Vibia Africa lights exude warmth and harmony, thanks to their soft shapes, the natural surface colours and a figurative appeal. Its sculptural character is especially enhanced when several lights are arranged into a group. The two different sizes make possible harmonious configurations that come into their own on sideboards and side tables.
To reload the battery, the Africa table light is simply put on a base with plugged cable that seamlessly complements its delicate shape. The battery load lasts approx. 6,5 hours at a brightness level of 100%, 10 hours at 66% and up to 20 hours at 33%.
100% recycled aluminium is used for the production which reduces Africa's ecological footprint.
