The LED suspension Plant Chandelier by Moooi was designed in 2018 by Kranen/Gille. It is part of a small collection, specially conceived for the Noordbrabants Museum in the Netherlands.
The idea behind the design is the imitation of shapes and natural forms. The inspiration was drawn among other from Karl Blossfeldts' formally strict photographies of plants. The chandelier embodies the poetical beauty of natural shapes because its metallic structure imitates tree branches randomly branching out. Eight matt glass cups, containing the LEDs, are located on the "twigs". They spread a warm white, diffuse light shining evenly in all the directions.
Plant Chandelier by Moooi is a chandelier of impressive size, producing a strong effect in high rooms or above large tables.
The suspension is delivered with a brass-coloured metallic ceiling rose. A transparent electrical cable and a wire, holding the light fixture's weight, are a discreet suspension. On request, cable lengths up to 10 meters are possible.
