Biagio Collection

Design by Tobia Scarpa

The very stylish table lamp Biagio by Flos provides direct light. The body of the lamp has been carved from a single block of Botticino marble. When Tobia Scarpa designed this lamp, his intent was to demonstrate the proprieties of transparency of marble. These were well known of during the antiquity and it was used to make window panes as long as the production process of flat glass had not been discovered. There is an ON/OFF switch on the cord.

This table lamp has been designed in 1968 and is now a still very successful classical lamp. Its prototype has been made in the workshop of Signor Cidonia, who also used to work for world famous sculptors like Henry Moore or Cesar.
