Adrien Gardère

Adrien Gardère was born in France in 1972 and first studied French literature, prior to completing studies of furniture designer at the École Supérieure d'Arts Appliqués Boulle and at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Next to the conception of furniture, manufactured and commercialized by significant design labels, Gardère established himself also successfully in the field of product design. Among his clients were companies such as Artemide, Ligne Roset, Cinna, Perimeter Editions and Saazs, and his designs were taken in the permanent collections of public cultural institutions such as the Fonds national d'art contemporain (FNAC) and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.

In 2000, the French founded the Studio Adrien Gardère. The studio has a wholistic approach and deals with architecture, interior architecture, furniture design as well as museography and exhibition design. In the course of the years, the Studio Adrien Gardère could establish long relationships to famous cultural institutions and architecture offices and successfully implement projects worldwide. A productive dialog with all the participants and the adaptation to diverse cultures and the given architectural context enables the team around Adrien Gardère to always create a mass-to-measure design that brings emotion and innovation and meets the expectations of the clients or target groups.

In the field of illumination design, Adrien Gardère designed Melampo for Artemide. The design of this light collection is classical, yet surprises with a changeable appearance and functional details. Melampo was honoured in the category "Best of the Best" with the Red Dot Award, besides Gardère received the Etoile de l'Observeur for the light fixture. Since 2001, Melampo has been included in the permanent collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
