About the Collection DCWéditions Here Comes The Sun
Here Comes The Sun is a collection of pendant lights that impress with their unconventional design. The light fixture was designed in 1970 by the interior designer Bertrand Balas. The southern French was keen to capture the unique light of Southern France, especially the sunsets he loved over the Garonne near Toulouse. Today the lights are manufactured by the French label DCWéditions.
The designer was initially faced with a problem with the naming, because at almost the same time the Beatles released a music album with the same title - a legal dispute would have been theoretically the consequence. The Here Comes The Sun was renamed "Springfontein". When DCWéditions bought the rights to the Springfontein light many years later, the company took over the original name Here Comes The Sun.
The spherical shape of the light shade is divided into two elements which create a charming look: an underlying bowl with an opening that is connected to a higher-level dome. Due to the light source in the center of the bowl, warming light flows through the recesses directly downwards, upwards and is reflected to the side.
This quickly reveals the meaning behind the name "Here Comes The Sun", because the light rising from below and illuminating the dome promises to be reminiscent of a sunrise, of warming sun rays. While a white lacquered inner surface of the aluminum shade looks a bit more neutral, the copper-coloured inner surface intensifies the inviting atmosphere that exudes the emitted light of a "rising sun".
Here Comes The Sun by DCWéditions are available in different sizes. It offers ideal light for different living areas: as a single light fixture in the dining room, in pairs in the bedroom or grouped in different sizes for a dramatic effect.
