The LED table lamp Equilibrist by Artemide is a creation by the French designer Jean Nouvel. It was awarded with the Wallpaper Design Award in 2015.
The light fixture is T-shaped, has a vertical stem and two horizontal arms with reflector heads. Following the principle of a scale, they can be tilted in such a manner that when one reflector is moved upwards and the other automatically goes downwards. The reflectors are also horizontally and vertically adjustable, and have various shapes and light intensities.
Both light sources can be separately switched on and off and dimmed. The switch-dimmers are located directly on the heads, making an intuitive use possible.
By adjusting the structure, turning the heads and dimming the light, it is possible to create various lighting scenarios, a mixture of direct and indirect light as desired. At the same time, Equilibrist changes appearance, yet is always a perfectly well-balanced modern sculpture.
The Equilibrist table lamp's arms and heads are made of lacquered aluminium, the base is of lacquered zamak.
