Artemide
Empatia Collection

Design by Carlotta de Bevilacqua

The Empatia LED lights by Artemide demonstrate the fascinating art of glass blowing and an understanding of modern design, which involves a no-frills clearness and the latest technologies. The collection was designed by Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Paola di Arianello and comprises wall and ceiling lamps, supensions and table lamps in three different sizes. They are all equipped with high-quality LEDs and dimmable.

The diffusers are made of blown glass and have an appealing convex shape. A vertical, transparent stem of polycarbonate, which guides the integrated LEDs' warm light to the shade and thus provides an atmospherical room light, is visible inside. This detail ensures maximally efficient use of the high-performance LEDs. The shade's glass surface is partly transparent and partly milky, which influences the light distribution, and creates a fascinating appearance, even when the light is turned off. A simple structure of white lacquered aluminium complements the design.

The Empatia lights are pure glass art, the embodiment of balance, precision, and aesthetics. The LED technique also appeals with its high-quality, warm white light, which is also dimmable, and provides the right mood for every situation.

Empatia by Artemide is the result of an intensive collaboration between the designers and the Venetian masters of glass-making art. Each Empatia is a unique, handmade piece. The collection was awarded the iF Product Design Award and the Wallpaper Design Award in 2014.
