Artemide
Callimaco Collection

Design by Ettore Sottsass

The LED floor lamp Callimaco by Artemide refers to a designer classic, designed in 1982 by Ettore Sottsass. The slender, cylindrical uplighter provides dimmable, indirect lighting and is also an unconventional design statement. Sottsass was the founder of the Memphis Group whose design principles are expressed in the Callimaco light: vivid colours, geometrical shapes, unconventional proportions and playful details characterize the floor lamp.
The light fixture has a grey lacquered, conical steel base, an also conical, yet smaller diffuser and a connecting aluminium stem, lacquered in yellow and equipped with a chrome-plated handle. The switch dimmer, also chrome-plated sits directly on the stem.

Today, Callimaco is part of the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
