Artemide
Calipso Collection

Design by Neil Poulton

The Calipso LED lights were designed by Neil Poulton for Artemide and launched in 2017. The collection includes a ceiling lamp and a suspension, available with optionally 2700K or 3000K LEDs.

The Calipso light's shade has a fascinating structure, irregularly pierced with holes of various sizes. The pattern is based on a photograph of the moon, which was modified by a computer programme. It resembles a honey comb pattern, a seemingly naturally grown structure as seen through a microscope. It is responsible for both the visual effect and the even light distribution.

The light shines directly downwards. The shade's nearly futuristic appearance perfectly fits in modern, minimalistic rooms, while the flat construction is discreet. The light fixtures are made of ASA, polypropylene and polycarbonate. They are dimmable and can be controlled via the Artemide App.
