About the Collection Ingo Maurer 24 Karat Blau
The 24 Karat Blau lights were created by Axel Schmid and have been part of the Ingo Maurer portfolio since 2005. The collection encompasses a table lamp, a floor lamp, as well as wall lights and pendant lights, some of which can be extended with modular elements, enabling to create individual shapes and sizes.
Karat Blau are characterized by a unique lighting effect. Only the blue light, with its short wavelength, passes through the thin layer of gold, while the warmer light is reflected back. The result is not only an especially warm direct light, but also a mysterious blue glimmer on the shade.
The shades consist of different plates, made of gold leaf and transparent acrylic glass. The rectangular plates are attached to a cross-shaped metallic structure, creating a diffuser with a cubist touch.
The design is complemented by filigreed, red lacquered metallic structures and with a red electrical cable or pull switch.
