Flos
Chasen Collection

Design by Patricia Urquiola

Flos Chasen is a suspension with modifiable shade for direct and diffuse light and was designed in 2007 by Patricia Urquiola. It is ideal for stylishly illuminating the kitchens and dining tables.

The fact that lighting effect and appearance of the light fixture can be modified and adapted is a special highlight. A rotary button on the shade's top makes possible to shorten or lengthen the shade's height so that the gap between the soft spokes is more or less wide to let more or less light through. In its most slender shape, Chasen directs nearly all its light downwards, when in its broadest position, on the contrary, it spreads a generous diffuse room light.

Chasen has an internal diffuser of borosilicate glass surrounding a grid made of thin stainless steel spokes. The light's shape is immediately reminiscent of the small Japanese bamboo broom, called "chasen", used for preparing the traditional matcha tea.

The impressive size and unique appearance turn Chasen into a special design highlight that illuminates tables and counters in private living spaces or in restaurants and cafes. Its original design is also aesthetic and best suited for modern, cozy spaces. The clear Japanese reference lends the light fixture a special charm precisely for the friends of Asia-inspired lifestyles.

Cleaning instructions by the manufacturer: When cleaning the light fixture, only soft cloths must be used. It is also possible to moist them with water and soap or with a neutral cleaning product. Please, do not use alcohol or solvents!
