Jozeph Forakis

Jozeph Forakis is an American designer with Greek roots and was born in New York City as the son of two artists. He graduated from the Rohde Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in industrial design and from the Domus Academy in Milan with a Master in the same field.

Next to an activity as a design manager at the Domus Academy Research Center from 1993 to 1997, he was consultant director in design for Swatch Irony in 1995 and contributed to the development of product series. Between 1999 and 2002, he was director of the design department of the Motorola electronic manufacturer and founded his own design office jozeph forakis with headquarters in Milan and New York in 2002. The office is a strategical design agency, is leading in innovative product and brand development and worked together with renowned international brands. Smart solutions in the field of industrial design, UI/UX Branding, interior architecture, exhibition design, transportation, among others, are key offers by jozeph forakis design.

The work of Jozeph Forakis is characterized by the use of innovative materials and digital technologies - always with the focus on creating an emotional relationship with the user.

Forakis was already honoured with numerous distinctions - among them the Good Design Award, the iF Design Award or the Red Dot Design Award - for his designs. His works were exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide. His light fixture Havana for Foscarini, with which the Italian light label could achieve a rank among the leading light companies, is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
