The LED table lamp Alchemie by Catellani & Smith, designed by Giulia Archimede, is composed of limestone, alabaster and brass, and thanks to its adjustable cover, offers different lighting scenarios, perfect for a sideboard or on on office desk.
Alchemie combines the old with the new: a modern formal language, the latest LED technology and luxurious materials made popular by ancient works of art and precious objects. Two round, flat plates stand on a slender, rectangular base of "Pietra di Medea" marble. One is immobile, fixed at one end of the base. The entire front features a diffuser made of alabaster which glows gently like the moon when the light is switched on. The second plate is made of brass and can be moved along the track. It can conceal the diffuser partially or completely, creating different visual impressions. Alchemie recreates the phases of the moon, fascinating like a solar eclipse, and allows to play freely with light and shape. The cover is intuitively adjusted by hand, and the on/off switch is located within reach on the light base.
The stone featuring individual veins turns each light fixture into a unique piece.
