The lighting objects 38V by Bocci are based on the precedent model 38 that features several milky glass balls blown in a large transparent glass ball, until they find a free space inside and form unexpected shapes. Comparatively 38V is smaller and lighter. One of the free spaces serves as a diffuser, besides they connect with the supporting structure and lamp socket. The other hollow spaces are open towards the outside and are optionally empty or can receive plants. The collection by Omer Arbel comprises several suspensions, ceiling lamps, floor lamps and a table lamp.
The diameter of the main balls can vary between approx. 19 and 21 cm because they are made by hand. Also the precise shape of the opaline glass air bubbles differs from one exemplar to the other. Each light fixture is a unique piece with individual appeal, a microcosmos of complex, cloud-like shapes and shadows.
Especially the models with several diffusers create nearly surreal organical constructions with endless variations. Depending on the models, the balls are suspended on thin cables, so that they seem to float, or rest on simple metallic structures. Their more complex versions branch out asymmetrically and above all suggest a fantastic fauna when combined with plants.
Next to the here offered models, many further models are available on request. Among them there are many objects especially suitable for the object area, for large halls and rooms with high ceilings, for stairwells and atriums. The suspensions are available in special lengths of up to 30 m. The multiple suspensions with more than three diffusers cannot have their cable lengths adapted, but are determined by Bocci. The shortest and the longest wished cable lengths must be mentioned when ordering. Other versions, also available on request, have formable copper arms or winding cables that turn them into expressive suspensions. Their length is generally non adaptable. Here, special lengths of 9,9 m are possible.
Bocci 38V makes possible light objects with individual character and of different complexity. Depending on the model, up to 61 glass balls are possible that are arranged as asymmetrical light clouds or vertical cascades and interact with the architecture, emphasize the room's dimension and attract the attention with a soft light shimmer.
The light of 38V is generally not bright enough to serve as primary light source. It has rather a decorative and atmospherical function, because the light fixtures can be showcased in their full complexity and beauty with a care to details.
Optionally, the lighting objects are available as xenon or LED version. The LED lamps have the advantage of a lower energy consumption, a longer life-span and low heat development. The xenon version has a very natural colour rendering.
Please, note that the 38V lighting objects are not protected against the penetration of water. If they should be decorated with plants, the use of succulents or air plants is recommended because they do not require much water.
