Mirror Ball and Beat Light, Copper Shade or Jack Light – Tom Dixon lighting and furniture ist striking and memorable. The spectrum of the Englishman who established his own brand in 2002 is multifacted and the materials used are manifold. Tom Dixon uses plastics for his award-winning classic Jack Light from the Eighties or the Fresh Fat Collection from 2004. He metallizes lightweight polycarbonate globes from the inside to achieve a mirroring flashy effect for his Mirror Balls or Copper Shades. Dixon reinterprets basic industrial design by combining cast iron with shades from brass or table tops from polished white marble.
The style prodigy in Britain
This is why Tom Dixon is a top designer today, named design-star or style prodigy by leading magazines of the branch. It is difficult to find a luxurious hotel that does not have products designed by Tom Dixon. His lamps ornate the windows of luxury shops and light the displays of backeries. His contemporary glamour style inspired by both the 1970s and english style pieces of furniture truly represents our time and is liked by all generations.
The revival of the British furniture industry
Having started in the punk era of the Eighties, and after assignments at Habitat and Artek, Tom Dixon now wants to revive the British furniture industry with innovative yet solid designs. And although his lights, furniture and objects may have different designs, they all epitomize the characteristic Tom Dixon-Style: stark designs with rocking glamour, inspired by various eras and regions and a spiced up with a zest of British eccentricity. And what is most important of all: they are always carefully manufactured, often even by masters of their craft in a very traditional way and by hand.
