About the Collection Wästberg w227 Winkel alu
In 2022, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Wästberg's Winkel lamp, a revised version introduced in the form of the w227 Winkel Alu task lights. The design is even more reduced, slimmer and more flexible. The arms are now made of aluminium and are hollow on the inside, so that the cables and springs are hidden inside. The lighting technology has also been revised. The new collection includes a desk lamp with a base and one with a mounting pin, both available in black or white. The design is by Dirk Winkel.
The double arm structure of the new lamps is made of aluminium, partly recycled and partly recyclable. Its particularly slim, hollow construction also uses less material to begin with, and ensures a very clean look, as the power cable and the articulated springs now run inside the structure. The cable remains visible only at the transitions between the individual elements.
The lamp head consists of several components whose design and function are precisely coordinated. The cylindrical body made of polyamide contains an aluminium heat sink, the COB LED as well as a polyamide reflector and an acrylic diffuser. Finally, a polyamide anti-glare construction reduces light glare without any significant loss of brightness. The result is an even light that optimally illuminates large areas. The combination of the sophisticated heat management system and the polyamide material protects against overheating and makes handling the lamp safe and comfortable. The head can be turned and tilted to the side, and the double-arm structure can move flexibly as well, so that the light can be directed anywhere as desired. Its brightness is controlled by a touch dimmer.
The built-in light-emitting diodes are full-spectrum LEDs that recreate the entire colour spectrum of sunlight and achieve a high quality of light with outstanding colour rendering. This far outperforms conventional LEDs. The Winkel Alu table lamps are particularly suitable in rooms and contexts where precise perception of colour nuances is important - for example for art and creative work in offices and studios.
