About the Collection Wästberg w182 Pastille
The LED lamps Pastille by Wästberg use a special bio-plastic and high-quality full-spectrum LEDs with very good colour rendering and light distribution. The collection includes table lamps for different instellations, wall lamps and a floor lamp. The design comes from Sam Hecht and Kim Colin.
The design is strictly geometric and pared down to its essentials. The flat, round lamp head connects laterally to the vertical lamp rod. It can be rotated and pivoted to direct the light however desired. The large, concave diffuser takes up the entire underside of the lamp head and ensures even and soft illumination. Depending on its orientation, it provides working or reading light, indirect background lighting or atmospheric accents. The pleasant feel invites the users to touch the Pastille lamps, adjust their heads and dim their light using the dimmer at the upper end of the rod.
As the main material, Wästberg uses a special polyamide that was developed together with BASF and is made from 60% castor plant fibres. It is recyclable, is obtained organically and is stands out in everyday use by a warm sense of touch. Additional components are made of other materials. The reflector is made of ABS and the diffuser of polycarbonate. The base plate of the floor lamp is made of iron, the clamps or bases of the table lamps are made of steel and biopolyamide. The lamps are available in four colours, with the base or bracket, light head and rod all being designed in the same colour.
Modern manufacturing techniques such as overmolding and ultrasonic welding are used to translate the well-thought-out design into a physical form precisely, down to the last detail. The result is clear in appearance, pleasant and self-explanatory to use and extremely flexible. With a few simple touches, the lamp head can be directed and the brightness adjusted as desired. The Pastille lamps playfully switch between bright work or reading light and soft, indirect background lighting. The full-spectrum COB LEDs produce a light that is qualitatively close to that of the sun. Their excellent colour rendering is ideal for creative work that requires the correct perception of colour nuances. Together with the warm white colour temperature, it also ensures a pleasant lighting experience and an inviting atmosphere in all other contexts.
The extremely aesthetic design is convincing even when switched off. Especially in the darker colour versions, the Pastille luminaires set graphic accents that vary depending on the orientation of the light and the user's perspective. The footprint of the lamps always remains small, which makes them suitable for narrow tables and small rooms.
