Wästberg
w171 Alma Collection

With their wavy shade, the lamps w171 Alma by Wästberg sketch a fascinating play of light and shadow. The collection includes a wall lamp, a ceiling lamp and a pendant lamp. They were created by the Swedish design studio Tham & Videgård.

All luminaires use a flat, round shade with a concentric wave structure. In the middle is the socket for the E27 bulb, which is a defining part of the design. The design is intended for a mirror head lamp, guiding its light not directly into the room, but backwards against the shade. This makes the wave structure stand out beautifully and atmospherically, and lets the light be reflected indirectly into the room

The shade attests to real craftsmanship, being made of precisely formed aluminium with a satin matte white finish. The ceiling or wall mounting is made of steel, the canopy of polyamide. Especially striking is the very flat design of the Alma lamps, which makes them suitable for low or narrow rooms and lets them appear discreet and elegant despite their nearly sculptural character. Not only their own light emphasizes the surface structure of the lamps, but also other light sources. Even in daylight and when switched off, they become an eye-catcher and design statement.

The luminaires Alma are available in two different white colour nuances and fit discreetly into walls and ceilings. They are just as effective as single lamps as they are in a group. Large, empty walls can be impressively decorated, lighting landscapes can be created across the ceiling of a large room, or a kind of second ceiling can be formed with pendant lights.
