UMAGE Lights & Lamps

The Danish word “umage” stands for “effort” and describes the high standards that the company sets for itself in all areas. Umage strives to create stylish Danish design that remains affordable for everyone despite using high-quality materials. Aesthetics and functionality meet thoughtful craftsmanship and an environmentally conscious approach, and a wide range of colors and sizes can offer every customer the right lamp model. Umage was founded in 2008 by Jacob Nannestad and Chief Creative Developer Søren Ravn Christensen, initially under the name Vita. The company is committed to the Scandinavian design tradition, with clear aesthetics and high standards of quality and functionality. Many designs are inspired by nature. Shapes, patterns and colors refer to the Scandinavian landscape, and a calm, casual look is common to all products. Natural materials are sometimes used, but Umage also uses plastics that are characterized by their robustness and low weight.

For Umage, sustainability also means creating long-lasting products that accompany their owners for many years, respond to new life situations over time and can take on various tasks. In this sense, many lights have a modular structure: the lamp shades can be combined with different structures or suspensions as desired and used as a table, floor or pendant lamp. Umage also strives to reduce packaging waste. Most lamps are packed flat, which reduces storage and transport costs and simplifies logistics. Many lampshades are delivered in individual parts and can be assembled without tools. This also means that individual parts can be easily replaced.
