About the Collection Tom Dixon Melt

The Melt collection is a cooperation between the British design legend, Tom Dixon, and the Swedish design studio, Front. The shades have two faces: the reflecting surface turns transparent when the light is turned on, while the inside takes the appearance of glass in fusion.

Melt's shade is made of polycarbonate which has been given the shape of a thin-walled ball by using the injection blow moulding process. The orginally transparent material is then vacuum metallized and achieves an alluring aspect.

when the light is turned off, Melt seems to be a solid metallic body with a perfectly smooth surface, reflecting the room. The diffuser forms a unity with the structure, because both parts feature the same metallic hue. The result is elegant and refined, an eye-catcher even when the light is turned off. Melt's true beauty is revealed by the light, when the diffuser gets transparent and takes a mysterious glow. It has the appearance of a remote galaxy, of melted glass or metal showing a striking depth and complexity.

The collection comprises pendant lights and chandeliers in two sizes, wall lamps with a somewhat flattened diffuser as well as a floor lamp, equipped with a stylish metall structure.

Available in chrome, gold, copper or refined black-blue, Melt creates warm light or cooler accents, resembles mysteriously swirling smoke or metal in fusion, lava or a nebula.

Melt is an eye-catcher in cozy cafes or bars, in elegant stores or in lounges, and of course in high-class private homes.
