About the Collection Tecnolumen Wagenfeld

The light fixtures by Wilhelm Wagenfeld are among the most famous designer classics of the Bauhaus movement. The re-editions by Tecnolumen were authorized by Wagenfeld and are manufactured according to the original designs in terms of dimensions and materials. Each light fixture is a unique piece bearing an increasing number and the logo TECNOLUMEN or TECNOLUMEN/BAUHAUS.

Thanks to its iconic shape and timeless beauty, the Wagenfeld table lamp is an unmistakable, strong design statement. It also convinces with high-quality materials and beautifully crafted details which are more than simple ornaments. Instead, all functional elements form a consistent whole, starting from the convex shade of opaline glass and complemented with the textile covered cable and the pull-switch enabling to stylishly turn the light on and off.

Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed the famous table lamp in 1924, together with Carl Jacob Jucker, when both of them were studying at the Bauhaus in the time of László Moholy-Nagy. Today it is viewed as the Bauhaus light fixture par excellence and the embodiement of clear Bauhaus aesthetics. Beside the most famous version with a base and stem of glass, there are other official versions with a base and a stem of metal.

Furthermore, the Wagenfeld collection comprises table lamps with the same structure, but a conical cardboard shade, available as a floor lamp, and the WNL multifunction light with a cylindrical glass shade which serves as a table lamp and also as a wall lamp and is flexibly orientable.

All light fixtures in the collection share the same timeless, elegant design which appeals with clearness, high-quality materials and the beautiful interplay of simple, geometric basic shapes.

The Wagenfeld WA24 table lamp has been included in the permanent exhibitions of the Museum of Modern Art in New York since 1986.
