The chair series MT by Driade Store was designed by the star designer Ron Arad who is famous for his angular pieces of furniture from steel. However, the joy of experimentation and creativity of the British designer was not stopped by plastic. The unconventional shape of the 'hollow' MT chairs from polyethylene was made possible by the use of polyethylene and the rotation moulding process. The name of the series is derived from 'empty' and refers to the cavity under the seat. The weatherproof polyethylene makes it possible to use the chairs outside and inside.
The shape of the here described armchair MT1 is very similar to the one of the Panton chair. The use of two colours enhances the design of the chair: whereas the outer face is sand white, the outer face is available in a choice of colours.
