Lou Read by Driade is not just an armchair. It is a design statement with exclamation mark and a protective cocoon for relaxing hours. Lou Read was first designed by Philippe Starck and Eugeni Quitllet for the Hotel Le Royal Monceau Raffles in Paris and is now also available for private use.
Lou Read is mélange of modern ear chair and rocking leather. Its organic shape follows the silhouette and provides magnificient seating comfort although without thick upholstery. Its name is as special as its design. Philippe Starck pays tribute to his dear friend and musician Lou Reed whom he first met at the Hotel Le Royal Monceau 15 years ago. With this small play on words, Starck hints at the chair's qualities and expresses how perfect it is for reading or relaxed conversations.
Armchair Lou Read has a structure from fibre glass and a fix cover with accentuating seams in brown or natural anilin leather. Each room of the Hotel Le Royal Monceau is equipped with such a design chair. You can now enjoy its inspiring virtues in private living as well as stylish working spaces, too.
