Secto Design
Octo Collection

Design by Seppo Koho

The dimmable Octo suspension was one of the first creations, designed by Seppo Koho for the Finnish light label Secto. Today, it counts among the label's undisputed classics and is available in a choice of surfaces.

The hand-made shade is composed of thin wooden slats. They are made of Finnish wood from PEFC certified forest management. The slats' special profile forms the distinctive onion-like shape. There is a closed, cylindrical body containing the socket and the lamp in the upper segment and below, there is an airy, open ball with regular spaces between the slats and a round aperture at the bottom. The light shines mainly downwards, yet passes also sideways between the wooden slats. The glare-free direct light with indirect light share is perfectly suitable for illuminating tables, counters and sideboards. The wooden slats' external faces are, depending on the version, in natural wood, veneered or laminated. The contrast lends the light fixture additional complexity and a warm, natural appeal. The textile cable and the conical ceiling rose with softlack finish come in black or white, matching the shade colour.

Octo can be integrated in a DALI system with a separate DALI compatible trailing edge phase dimmer. A dimmer is not included in the delivery. To avoid overheating, Octo should be operated only with LED lamps. Special lamps, halogen lamps, mirror lamps or 12V lamps are not allowed.
