Santa & Cole
Tatu Collection

Tatu by Santa & Cole are table and wall lamps which were originally designed in 1972. André Ricard conceived them for the Spanish light label Santa & Cole and created a iconic design of Spanish popular culture. The designer drew inspiration from armadillos, while he was reading on Argentina's fauna on an intercontinental flight, and noticed that his wife who was sleeping nearby was not disturbed by the light. It is how the idea of an exceptional pop art design was born. The new and modern edition by Santa & Cole unites a pop art aesthetics with contemporary lighting technology.

The wall lamps, table lamps and floor lamps in the Tatu collection are equipped with integrated LEDs having an adjustable light intensity (0 - 100%). The refined light fixtures are made of metal and ABS synthetics. The individual components are independently movable. For this reason, the light direction can be flexibly adjusted. The integrated lens creates a focussed light cone which is ideally suited for reading. The beam angle of the light cone can be adjusted to 30° or 50°.

André Ricard is a pioneer of Spanish industrial design and, besides, a representative of some design institutes like the Association of Professional Designers and the International Council of Design.
