More about the brand Oluce

The Oluce brand stands for outstanding lighting design from Italy. It is the oldest Italian designer lighting company, offering iconic classics from important designers in its range.

Oluce was founded in 1945 by Giuseppe Ostuni and gained popularity primarily through the IX. Triennale in 1951 and international fame through the Domus magazine. In the following years, the designer Tito Agnoli in particular achieved important successes, with several lamps being nominated for the Compasso d’Oro. In the 1960s, Joe and Gianni Colombo, among others, gave new impetus not only to Oluce but also to the design world itself with groundbreaking designs. Joe Colombo in particular pursued revolutionary, innovative lighting design that used new techniques and new materials.

In the 1970s, the Verderi family took over the management of the brand. During this time, Vico Magistretti was the art director and chief designer. The legendary Italian designer shapes this era of Oluce history with his iconic designs.

In the new millennium, Oluce moves between tradition and innovation, maintaining its repertoire of popular icons, but also working with young and hip designers on new ideas. Modern lights with innovative lighting technology and timeless design complement the classics in the Oluce range, and form a wide, versatile selection of high-quality design lamps for indoor and outdoor use. Since 2015, the company has also been offering lighting concepts and custom-made products for the professional sector.

Oluce's innovative, famous designs have been recognized with many design awards and can now be found in the collections of major museums around the world.
