Moooi
Coppélia Collection

Design by Arihiro Miyake

The suspensions Coppélia by Moooi were designed by Arihiro Miyake in 2015. The collection includes two versions of different sizes, each available in a chromed or a black version.

The Coppélia lights consist of thin stainless-steel spokes and candle-like diffusers of white synthetics. Three metallic rings arranged with each other are connected with obliquely and radially running spokes, so that a filigreed and outstandingly complex shape is created. The visually overlapping spokes and the diffusers' soft light make the rigid shape nearly immaterial. Despite their size, the light fixtures are airy and floating and their design is fluid and elegant like a ballerina's movements. They clearly refer to the inspiration and name's source that is the Coppélia ballet by Léo Delibes.

Miyake's modern interpretation of the classical chandelier produces a soft, atmospherical atmosphere. The room is not completely brightened, but gets magical lighting accents and romantic flair.
