The light fixtures in the Animal collection by Moooi are the floor lamp Horse Lamp and the table lamp Rabbit Lamp. They were designed by the design studio Front in 2006.
Both objects combine a classical, cylindrical light shade with a structure that does not consist as usual of a base and a light stem, but of the close to nature replica of an animal, entirely in black, featuring details and immediately recognizable.
While the Rabbit Lamp easily finds space on sideboards and side tables, the Horse Lamp is a life-size sculpture requiring a lot of space. It comes into its own in foyers and reception halls, in restaurants and large corridors in apartments. Its function as light sources is rather secondary, and it is more a design statement that is striking and appears above all when the light is on.
The animal-shaped sculptures are made of synthetics, the light shades are made of PVC viscose laminate hold by a metallic structure.
