About the Collection Marset Theia

The LED lights Theia by Marset were designed by Mathias Hahn in 2016. The collection includes a floor lamp and a table lamp with mostly the same dimensions, but with a diversely long light stem. Both models are available in black and in white.

Base and light stem are made of lacquered iron, the heat sink is of aluminium, the shade of metal is pressed into shape and the diffuser is of methacrylate.

In the Greek mythology, Theia is the mother of the sun, the moon and the dawn. It is also the name of an hypothetical planet the remains of which formed the moon millions of years ago. The Theia lights have a mobile light head, reminiscent of the phases of the Moon, of the model of a celestial body's inside, and depending on the point of view, show light and shadow in diverse mixtures.

The integrated LED have an especially warm white colour temperature and an outstanding colour rendering, so that a cozy, homely illumination is created. The hemispherical heat sink conceals the LEDs and guides their light inside the metallic shade, so that the light passes indirectly and glare-free in the room. The coloured synthetic shade mutes the light upwards and lends it a warm hue.

The switch dimmer is located conveniently within reach on the heat sink. A short stem enables to turn the shade and in this way direct the light and achieve various lighting effects.

Awarded with the NYCxDESIGN Award 2016.
