Marset
Ginger Collection

Design by Joan Gaspar

The LED lights Ginger by Marset have flat shades of laminated wood or metal that spread a pleasant, glare-free illumination. The collection was designed by Joan Gaspar in 2014 and first included table lamps, suspensions and wall lamps for inside, available in a choice of sizes and colours. Since 2020, the Ginger product family also comprises exterior wall lamps and bollards of metal.

All models consist of a flat shade with heat sink, held by minimalist structures that are hardly noticeable on the wall lamps and suspensions, while the table and floor lamps capture the shade's clear formal language.

The shades are now available made of metal, yet the original design very deliberately used wood, a material with warm, cozy character. The only 4 mm thick convex plate is a combination of several thin wood and paper layers, pressed into shape with synthetic resin and under heat. While the white inner side reflects the light especially effectively, the naturally veined wooden layer on the external side conveys warmth and solidity. The very flat, thin shade seems two-dimensional and adapts lightly floating in the room. The LEDs are concealed behind an aluminium shell, also serving as a heat sink. Together with the shade it forms a delicate entity with harmonious proportions and elegant colour and material contrasts. All parts play a role for the light distribution that is indirect and glare-free. Most versions emit their light downwards, but the wall lamps distribute it glare-free in the room.

The metallic versions, launched later on the market, spread the same warm, glare-free light, yet their shade is made of aluminium and is lacquered in black or white or come in brushed brass. To effectively guide the light downwards, the shade's inner side is always white. A version with an inner side and an external side in brushed brass radiates an especially warm light. On the contrary, the wall lamps have their shade's inner side facing the room in diverse colours. An expanded colour choice makes possible to obtain individual light groups and accents adapted to any home style.

The exterior wall lamps are made of lacquered metal and available in a reduced colour choice, adapting harmoniously to house facades or in the garden. They are suitable as a light source in entry ways, as pathway lighting or as accent lighting in flowerbeds.

The integrated LEDs have an especially warm white colour temperature and a very good, natural colour rendering that provides a pleasant atmosphere in the living area and outdoors. Because the light radiates glare-free and indirectly, the comfort is increased and the light pollution reduced outside. The exterior lights with dark shade's inner side seem to be less bright than the bright versions.
