About the Collection Marset Cala
The floor lamps Cala by Marset have a characteristic folding structure and a well-balanced, cozy design. Joan Gaspar designed the lights in 2012, and in the following years the collection was further developed, so that three models are now available, each of a different size and made of special materials, conceived for inside or outside.
Next to the original model with wooden structure, there is also the Cala Metal with slender iron structure for use in interiors. Both models have a broad, cylindrical textile shade with synthetic diffuser. They differ in size, because the Cala Metal not only features a delicate structure, but also a small shade and as a whole a smaller height. The version for outside is even slightly smaller and has a structure of iroko wood. The three floor lamps have a cable running visibly from the lamp socket to the wall socket. The indoor lights have their switch on the cable and the outdoor floor lamp has them on the shade.
The supporting structure consists of two scissors-like, crossing elements, so that the construction in spite of its width and depth is airy and seems light. The four points of support give the Cala lights a secure stand, and the screwed feet ensure that the light fixtures stand evenly on the floor.
Each model has a character of its own, thanks to other colours, materials and proportions. While wood seems cozy and warm, the metallic structure radiates clearness and modernity. The shades' structure and the wooden legs' wood grain lend the design complexity and nice, individual details.
