Marset Sun is a wall or ceiling lamp with an uncomon concept because it has the lamp in a glass diffuser located outside the light body. It was designed in 2016 by the Spanish design studio Yonoh and is available in two sizes and two colours.
Sun is based on a classical, nearly conventional shape. A round metallic frame is closed by a slightly concave polycarbonate bowl. This design is disrupted through an unexpected element: a nearly round glass body resting in off-set position on the synthetic bowl. The LEDs are integrated and provide a soft, strikingly complex lighting, distributed in various manners by the synthetic shade and the glass diffuser.
At first sight, Sun seems simple and classical, adapting effortlessly to numerous interiors. At second glance, the off-set ball's strict symmetry is broken, and its light play appears strikingly complex while the materials produce aesthetic contrasts.
