VL by Louis Poulsen: When classics come back to life, it is difficult to find the balance between homage to the original and zeitgeist in terms of function and technology. With the Louis Poulsen VL lights by Vilhelm Lauritzen, the Danish manufacturer has succeeded in transferring its coveted design classics from 1938 and the 1940s into the 21st century.
VL Ring Crown
With the desire to create a new type of pendant lamp, the famous Danish architect and designer Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VL Ring Crown lamp in the 1940s. It was originally intended to be used in the former Danish radio buildings. Functionality and aesthetics were particularly important to Lauritzen, which is also reflected in the reintroduction of the Louis Poulsen VL Ring Crown lamp in autumn 2019.
The re-edition of the popular design classic consists of a refined structure made of polished brass and the characteristic lampshade, made of a high quality three-layered, blown opaline glass in glossy white exudes added quality.
The VL Ring Crown pendant lamp is available with a single glass shade or with three, five or seven glass shades. The VL Ring Crown wall light is available with one shade or as a double wall light with two shades.
VL45 Radiohus
In the 1940s, the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the Radiohuset, the Danish radio building in Frederiksberg, and also presented the lighting: the legendary Radiohus lights. The Radiohus pendant light quickly became a Louis Poulsen bestseller that is still popular. The manufacturer presents it as a new edition under the name VL45 Radiohus. The Louis Poulsen VL45 Radiohus pendant light follows the original design, only the modern requirements for lighting technology and energy efficiency are incorporated into the new edition. It is the mixture of elegance and style, of classic and modern, that makes the VL45 Radiohus a desirable part of well-rounded lighting in many households. The blown glass is composed of three layers, the external layers being clear and the internal one white. The VL45 Radius light's high-quality glass spreads the light evenly and directly downwards through the hole in the diffuser. This diffuser is held by an end of drawn brass, thus forming an elegant transition with the suspension system. The light fixture is suitable for both an installation in height and in a lower position.
VL38 floor, wall and table lamps
In the design classic from 1938, the original design of the VL38 from Radiohuset is retained and supplemented with innovative LED technology. There are two lighting levels, 50 and 100% of light intensity, and it is possible to adjust a permanent brightness level, at which the light will shine every time, if connected. The timer function automatically switches the light on and off after four to eight hours. In this way, they meet the most modern requirements for high-quality lighting and guarantee that anyone looking for something special will enjoy the VL38 for a long time.
