About the Collection Louis Poulsen VL Studio
The light fixtures in the collection VL Studio count among the last light fixtures designed by the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen in the 1940s for the Danish radio broadcasting building Radiohuset in Copenhagen, and were re-edited by Louis Poulsen in 2022. At that time VL Studio was used in front of the recording studio of the radio broadcasting building to indicate with a red or green light if a broadcast was in progress. Lauritzen was the architect of Radiohuset and also conceived the entire interior architecture and details of the building. In collaboration with Louis Poulsen, he also developed further light fixtures: beside the famous Radiohus suspension, the VL Ring Crown and the VL38 lights and also the VL Studio lights.
VL Studio are ball-shaped lights with an hemispherical structure of aluminium or brass. They have some similarities with the Radiohus suspension. Both produce a diffuse lighting through the three-layer, shiny, opaline glass and a pleasant general lighting around the light fixture. VL Studio are available as floor lamps in a choice of three sizes, illuminate their surroundings softly and can spread their appeal in commercial areas, in corners or on window sills in restaurants, in hotel rooms, in corridors and boutique hotels, and also in private rooms. They can be placed on the floor, but also on higher shelves or stairs. The ball-shaped lights are a first rate choice for creative furnishing concepts, because their are easily combinable and enable to create effective light islands.
The VL Studio wall lamp is optionally available with or without cable and plug and its shade can be tilted to the right or to the left, enabling flexibility to direct the light. The matt black version of the VL Studio Wall produces, compared to the soft, warm appearance of the brass version, a graphic, clear expression and is perfectly suited for lounge areas in hotels, but also in retail trade, in lounges, offices or other public spaces.
The VL studio floor lamps and the VL Studio wall lamp convince with a simple aesthetics, first class materials and a modern appeal, thanks to which they work with various furnishing styles.
