Louis Poulsen
Keglen Collection

The Keglen lights by Louis Poulsen appeal with a minimalistic conical shape and were designed by Bjarke Ingels Designstudio BIG Ideas. Initially, the collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas began with the development of a suspension for the Tirpitz Museum in Blåvand, Denmark, that opened in 2017. The project was continued, and the Tirpitz suspension further developed because it qualifies for any possible type of furnishing. The design team's endeavour was to create a collection of light fixtures featuring a single design, available in various sizes and each with a character of its own. The result was the Keglen collection that has been included in the shape of suspensions in the Louis Poulsen portfolio since 2020 and which was complemented with wall lamps, table lamps and floor lamps at the end of 2021.

The Keglen collection comprises models of diverse sizes and with various proportions, each for diverse light diffusions and therefore suitable for many possible uses. The light is mostly directed downwards, while a small part shines diffusely into the room through an opening on the shade's tip, providing additional indirect lighting.

The striking conical shades of the Keglen lights are made of lacquered aluminium. A convex diffuser of opaline white polycarbonate, resembling a drop, closes it below and ensures a pleasant, glare-free light. Besides, the shade's white lacquered inner side reflects the light immaculately.

Keglen can be suspended as a single light or in rows and clusters. Thanks to its clear geometry, it adapts perfectly in minimalistic interiors, yet also sets modern accents in other architectural contexts. The large Keglen suspension with a diameter of 65 cm perfectly adapts to areas in restaurants and conference rooms, while the smaller suspension with 17,5 cm provides a blissful light and can be installed, for example, over smaller tables or over counters.
