Louis Poulsen
Cirque Collection

Inspired by the hustle and bustle on fairs, the Swedish designer Clara von Zweigbergk designed the Louis Poulsen Cirque suspensions. The collection has distinctive bellied shades with unusual colour combinations that catch the wonderful atmosphere of entertainement parks along with all the impressions created by roller coasters, balloons and spun sugar. The Louis Poulsen Cirque version with red strip on top appeals with strong colours, while the versions with strip in yellow or copper on top score with a subdued colour scheme.

The Cirque suspensions by Louis Poulsen are made of wet-lacquered aluminium. There is a E27 socket in the shade, in which preferably a LED lamp can be screwed. Cirque provides downwards directed light, spread softly and glare-free by the white reflector part located inside. The Louis Poulsen Cirque suspensions unfurl their full design potential when various versions are arranged as a cluster deep over the table. Yet, also when used singly over a side table, the Cirque light conveys a cheerful, design character.

The light fixture was first presented in the TIVOLI gardens, a famous relaxing and entertainement park in Copenhagen's centre. Cirque plays with colours and shapes. It was inspired by balloons, roller coasters, colour and light. The idea for the colour gradation originates in the perception of colours in a circular movement, during which they are often perceived as continuous lines. The shape is inspired by the famous oinion domes topping several buildings in the TIVOLI garden.
