Reed Solar Collection

The LED spike lamps Reed Solar by IP44.de are inspired by nature and environmentally friendly in more ways than one. A dedicated solar panel supplies them with energy, and the automatic twilight function switches them on and off in the evening. The collection includes two versions with rods of different heights. The design comes from Sebastian David Büscher.

The reed spike lights resemble the typha plants, also known as cattail or reed. Their slender structure consists of powder-coated cast aluminium, the ground spike is made of powder-coated stainless steel and the elongated diffuser is made of smoky tinted glass. Inside the diffuser, a slim glowing rod evenly distributes the light of the integrated LEDs.

The LEDs have a warm white colour temperature of 2700K, which does not strongly attract nocturnal insects due to its low blue content and thus does not disturb their orientation using the cool moonlight. The cozy lighting is not only pleasant for people, but also insect-friendly and environmentally conscious.

Another environmentally-friendly factor is the lamps' operation via their own solar panel with storage module, which allows the Reed LED spike lamps to work completely independent of the power grid. This also means a great deal of freedom when choosing a position for the lamps, and does away with inconvenient, long cables. All that is needed is to find a sunny location for the PV panel, which is connected to its respective lamp with a 1 meter long cable.

The twilight mode switches the light on automatically in the evening and switches it off again after 5 hours. This lets the reed lights work completely independently, without requiring its users to worry about charging and deactivating the light. However, a suitably sunny location and the correct orientation of the solar panel, which must also be kept clean, are important requirements. In bad weather and during the cold season, the light output can be weaker. When fully charged, the solar panel battery provides energy for around 15 hours of light.

The Reed LED lights fit particularly harmoniously into flower beds, near real reeds and other plants. The two different heights allow the formation of very natural-seeming lamp groups that create atmospheric islands of light in the garden and provide soft background lighting for cozy evenings on the terrace or garden bench.

Each lamp has its own solar panel. Depending on their placement, luminaires that are grouped together may be activated at different times via twilight function.

The Reed spike lamps are intended for unpaved green spaces and flower beds. To guarantee the lamp's stability, the ground spike must be pushed into the earth until the disc touches the surface. This means that the height of the lamps cannot be changed.
