The LED solar lamps Fil by IP44.de impress with their puristic design inspired by the Bauhaus. The collection includes two models of different heights, each available with basic or enhanced technical features. The Fil lights are as elegant as living room luminaires, delicate, mobile, protected against moisture and dust (protection code IP65) and operate independent from the power grid thanks to their solar panel. The design comes from Klaus Nolting.
The rectangular, three-dimensional metal frame is made of black powder-coated aluminium. The solar panel sits on top, while squares of white translucent outdoor fabric form a luminous cube underneath. The fabric used is weather and UV resistant. Inside, a second polycarbonate cube ensures even light distribution. For the small version Fil S, the diffuser takes up approximately half of the frame, for Fil M the upper third. The two models differ only in the height of the metal frame, while the diffuser cubes are the same size and their light properties identical.
The integrated LEDs provide a pleasantly warm white light that is emitted diffusely all around the lamp and throws a soft circle of light onto the floor. The light can be switched on and off and dimmed in three stages using a button on the side of the top of the metal frame. The version Fil Basic only features this manual mode, while the standard version of the lamp additionally offers an automatic mode, where the light switched on by itself in the evening and switches off after 5 hours. The same button on the side is used to switch between these two modes.
The integrated battery charges automatically during the day, given that the solar panel is exposed to direct sunlight. Alternatively, the lamp can also be charged via USB-C. Protection code IP65 is only given when the USB-C charging socket is sealed with its cover, which is why the lamps should only be connected to an indoor power outlet. The charging time via USB is about 12 hours.
When the battery is fully charged, the maximum runtime is approx. 5 hours at 100% brightness, approx. 10 hours at 50% and approx. 20 hours at 25%.
Fil comes with a 2m USB-C cable. A USB charger is not included.
