About the Collection Ingo Maurer Johnny B.
The Johnny B. lights use the theme of the bulb in different playful ways. The collection comprises three suspensions: the simple Johnny B. Good, designed in 2002 by Bernhard Dessecker and Ingo Maurer, and Johnny B. Butterfly and Johnny B. Bald, which were added to the collection in 2020.
All the Johnny light fixtures rely on the timeless charme of a lightbulb, screwed in a simple base and hanging from the ceiling on an electrical cable. Instead of a diffuser, a white ring wraps itself around the bulb, preventing its light from dazzling without altering the lamp's silhouette. Johnny B. Butterfly adds a romantic element to this basic shape: the detailed figurines of two butterflies and one dragonfly, made by hand, are placed on the ring, as if attracted by the lamp's light.
The ring is made of heat-resistant PTFE material (Teflon), the light base is made of lacquered metal, while Johnny B. Good has one of transparent glass.
Please note that Johnny B. Good and Johnny B. Butterfly require special illuminants, since the ring must fit perfectly around the bulb. Now Ingo Maurer also offers the required lamps as a compatible LED lightbulb.
