About the Collection Ingo Maurer Holonzki

The wall lamp Holonzki presents the hologram of a light bulb, floating before the wall. The seemingly magical lighting object was designed in 2000 by Ingo Maurer and Eckhard Knuth.

The wall fixation holds a rectangular glass plate, in front of which an empty lamp socket of brass is located. A reflector lamp at the end of a long metallic arm juts in the room from above and emits its light against the glass that is coated with a special holographic emulsion. The shape of a bulb appears, complemented by an empty lamp socket, a fascinating optical illusion with threedimensional shape and realistic details that disappear when the light is turned off. The light cone, appearing on the wall, seems to originate from the pretended bulb and attracts the glance on the light fixture.

Holonzki is made of metal and glass and is equipped with a black textile cable with plug and a pull-switch looking like a metallic chain.

The hologram is made by hand using a complex process which makes a mass-production impossible. Each light is a unique piece and features a hologram with unique details. Colour and background can differ.

The coated glass plate is sensible, should be handled with caution and protected from direct sunlight, from nicotine and further environmental influences.
