The One New Flame pendant lamp by Ingo Maurer uses modern technology to simulate a candle with a flickering flame. The body of the lamp consists of a flat, sleek circuit board whose upper end features a displa on each side, each equipped with 128 LEDs, which simulate the flickering flame of a candle.
This "modern candle" is suspended with two thin cables from an inconspicious white ceiling canopy. The electronic ballast is integrated into this canopy. Visually, cables and canopy are barely noticable, which creates the impression of One New Flame floating freely in the air.
