About the Collection GRAU Sun
The LED pendant lights Sun by GRAU are designed and produced in Germany. High-quality materials and the best working conditions result in products of excellent quality, characterized by a timeless and emotional design and applicable in a wide variety of ways. The collection by Timon and Melchior Grau includes single pendant lights for recessed and surface mounting as well as double pendant lights in linear arrangement and with or without height-adjustment. All models are available with a structure powder-coated in black or sand-white.
The oval diffuser is made of hand-blown glass with sophisticated layering and a special finish, thanks to which the diffuse light is emitted softly and evenly in all directions. The rounded shape of the small aluminium cap is reminiscent of a pebble balancing on the glass body. The cable and canopy are fashioned in matching colours and underline the clarity and harmony of the design.
The interplay of material, finish, form and light results in a special quality of light. Thanks to a high colour rendering value, colours and textures appear natural, which creates a pleasant atmosphere in all living spaces and especially in the dining room. With the Sunset Dimming function, the warm-white light grows even warmer when dimmed down, while colour temperature and light intensity are coordinated in such a way that they reflect the light of the sun at different times of the day. The Sun LED lamps accompany flexibly through the day, react to changing activities and moods and support the biorhythm of their users. Their light shines clear and bright, appears as a golden glow or as a deep orange reminiscent of a sunset.
The design of the Sun pendant lights is based on the Bonfire light sculpture that Timon and Melchior Grau exhibited in 2022, first at the Bergen Kunsthall in Norway and then at the FRAC Champagne-Ardenne museum in Reims, France.
"We have always dreamed of a light source that brings the sunset home. Sun embraces you and your home with a generous and gentle light," the brothers explain their design, which is an exploration of the positive effects that certain light colours have on human well-being. The warmth and passion of sunlight can be experienced through Sun and becomes a universal interior design tool. They enhance living and dining rooms, bedrooms and cafes, lounge and reception areas with a peaceful and magical atmosphere.
