The Calabash suspension by Fritz Hansen was designed by the Komplot Design studio. The Cloud Gate sculpture by Anish Kapoor - an oversized sculpture with a shiny, reflecting surface and smooth curves located in the Millennium Park in Chicago - served as a source of inspiration. Another model, the light fixture was named after, is the typically bellied calabash.
The shade is made of aluminium and is suspended on a black textile cable. The light passes through the shade and illuminates the table tops or counters located below. Fritz Hansen Calabash sets an elegant and stylish accent in restaurants and in private living spaces.
Cleaning instructions by the manufacturer: Wipe off the dust with a dry soft cloth. Remove the stains with a soft cloth dampened in lukewarm water and a mild detergent. The cloth must be wrung out. Do not use detergents containing abrasives or solvents.
