Foscarini
Filo Collection

Filo by Foscarini is more than a light fixture. It is a unique, modern work-of-art that reinterprets the traditional elements composing a light fixture - stem, shade and cable - in a fancy manner and complements it with decorative elements to turn it into a jewel piece. Filo was designed by Andrea Anastasio and has been included in the Foscarini portfolio since 2017. Beside the table lamp, Filo is available as a floor and a wall lamp.

What is immediately visible when looking at the Filo lights is the winding textile cable nonchalantly lying on the metallic stand and decisively influencing Filo's appearance. By contrast, the slender, conical china shade drifts into the background. When the light is turned on, it shines diffusely and is directed downwards, yet when the light is turned off, Filo also attracts all the attention. Two balls of blown glass are placed in a row on the cable and lend balance and further contrasts to the design. The balls are blown without a fixed shape and processed by hand. The base and the stem are made of powder-painted metal. The black electrical cable is equipped with an on/off switch. The porcelain shade of the three models has a G9 lamp.

A further characteristic of the Foscarini collection Filo is that the versions differ not only in colour. Also the shapes and surfaces' structures of the two decorative glass balls are different from one version to the other, so that each version of the Filo light has a character of its own. The different versions bear names that invite to dream. They are named after far away cities and precious gems, by contrast to their abstract design down to the slightest detail.

Filo by Foscarini celebrated its debut on the Euroluce fair in 2017, and was awarded its first prize as "Best Product" in the illumination field.
